Art and Magic

Our tradition tells stories of witches who lived in Maremma, stories which come back to life during the traditional feast on October the 31st in Montemerano with dances, music and costumes along the alleys and squares of the medieval town.

The magic of our land impressed important artists like Niki-de-Saint-Phalle who choose a park in Garavicchio locality, a few minutes driving from Poderedodici, and created her opera magna, the Tarot Garden. She built 22 statues which represent the Tarot cards with her unique style made up of mosaiques, coloured stones, mirrors and curvy shapes; children will love the magical atmosphere while adults will get back in touch with their fantasy and imagination.

Maremma was also home of Daniel Spoerri who choose a park in Seggiano, on Monte Amiata, to create his garden full of sculptures made by about 50 artists in the XX century. This park is open from April to October and it is one hour by car from Poderedodici Farmhouse, the perfect day trip to the mountains even tasting special dishes such as wild boar or porcini mushrooms.
